Four years ago I discovered the BJD-hobby online, and before long the community close to where I live. After a few months the two girls closest to me decided to hold a doll-meet the day before Valentine's day.

 

I was really nervous when I rang the doorbell. I had been planing this moment for the last week, but instead of standing there with one of my friends I was alone. In the last moment she had gotten one of her "fits" and backed out. I wasn't going to miss this though. No matter how nervous or scared I was.

 

"Hi." The door opened and I looked up at the woman in the pretty dress. My heart skipped a beat as I realized that these two sisters were dressed in full lolita. The Japanese style with adorable fluffy dresses. I had admired this style for quite some time without knowing that two lolitas actually lived this close. In my small town.

 

"Hi," I answered with a shy voice and stepped inside. They then led me to the kitchen where I got to see the older sister's doll. My heart was beating like crazy but they were incredibly nice. Since I was a bit early we could talk without me getting too shy.

 

After a while people started to arrive so we moved to the livingroom where everyone put their dolls on a white drawer and made them pose together. I could just sit and stare at all those beautiful dolls and their beautiful owners. I don't think my eyes were completely opened before that day.

 

As the day proceeded I got to see and touch lots of beautiful dolls, and even though I was too shy to do more than taking pictures and listening to the other's conversations, I had a great time.

 

Now, about three and a half years later, those lovely human beings are my friends. I've been living together with one of them for over a year, and in the end of this week I will be having twelve dolls of my own. I even hold a meet of my own every summer which people really like. I don't know what my life would've been like if I didn't go to that meet-up and I'm almost scared to think about it.
